Grandpa Chidester

Back tracking a few months...

Here he is with his cousin Tay at grandma Chidesters house around 3 months old.

Rub-a-dub-dub a playin' in the tub.

He looks so much like my little brother Cam in this one.

I don't know how he can sleep like that. He's so weird!!

skipping ahead a few month...

this is around 5 months.

7 weeks old

This is right after his first real bath. He loved it. He hated his sponge baths.

Mike calls this the lobster claw picture cause his hand looks so huge.

This is my favorite picture!! This was our second night in the hospital. I couldn't resist taking this picture. They just looked so cute.

Jacob Michael, born March 9, 2006 at 3:35pm. He weighed 7lbs 11oz , was 19 1/2 inches long, and had lots of dark hair. I fell in love at first sight.

We had to stay in the hospital for 2 nights. I hated it. I just wanted to go home. And every time they took the baby away to do thier little test (blood test, hearing test, etc) I freaked out. At night they would ask if I wanted them to take him to the nursery so I could sleep, I said no way. I wanted him in my sight at all times. I mean really. You are inseperable for 9 straight months and then all the sudden they want to take him away. Talk about separation anxiety!!! I was so glad when we finally got to go home. Then when we got home, we spent the day hiding out in the bedroom waiting for the torando sirens to go off. I hate tornado season. But I didn't care...I was just glad to be home and have him all to ourselves. Plus I actually got to get a little sleep at night between feedings instead of just getting to sleep only to have a nurse come in and want to take my temperature and blood pressure. Ugh!!!

Here I am all hooked up to the monitors, eating my ice chips, waiting to be induced. Mike brought all his books so he could study while we waited and I mostly just watched t.v. The nurses kept telling me, "You should get some sleep". Ya right. I am about to push a baby the size of a large watermellon out my crotch and you are telling me to relax and sleep?? Nice try!!

We checked into the hospital at 7am. I changed into my fabulous gown and they hooked me up the the monitors. Around 8am they gave me cerdivil...cervidal...(whatever it's called. I never get it right) to soften my cervix. I started having some contractions so they decided to see if I'd go into labor after that. Well, after about an hour or so the contractions started tapering off. So around 10am-ish they called the dr in and he broke my water. Again, the contractions started coming back and they were getting stronger and closer together, so they decided to wait. The nurses kept coming in asking if I wanted the epi yet and I kept saying no. I didn't think they were that bad. Even though the monitor showed that they were pretty good ones. Around 11am I decided to go ahead and have them do it, even though they weren't unbearable. I figured I may as well. So they went ahead and put it in and slipped me something else while they were at it. Hoping it would relax and get some sleep. It basically just made me loopy. Relaxed yes...but loopy. I was feeling goooooooood. Around 1pm they decided to go ahead and start the pitocin. After that things really got moving. I started feeling the urge to push around 2:30pm but the dr. told me to hold off pushing as long as I could. He said if I held off a little bit the baby would settle down in my pelvis a little more and I would end up saving myself some pushing. I am glad I held off. At 3pm in came the dr., 2 student dr's and a nurse in training and I was told to start pushing. Welcome to the show everyone...glad you could make it!!! I pushed for 35 minutes and he was out, with only a slight tear. It wasn't bad. The epi started wearing off at the end there and I felt the baby crown(ouch) and I felt the stitches(ouch again) but all in all it was a good experience. I hope my next delivery goes as well.
